Morven Research Landscape

Located just outside of Charlottesville, Morven farms is a vast and mostly unoccupied landscape. It’s owner, the University of Virginia has no concrete plans on how to put this valuable resource to use. This project envisions Morven farms as an integral extension of UVa’s academic grounds. Morven farms would house research facilities that extend the research being done within the UVa campus. The design proposal integrates the act of researching with the formal nature of progressively inhabiting a landscape. Rather than a one size fits all, permanent solution, the vastness and rich history of the Morven landscape is unearthed by a gradual and systematic development of research facilities over a period of time. The research being done within the facilities will be the primary factor in determining future interventions on the landscape.
